Your journey starts in Tanga, where we take a scenic drive to Amani Nature Reserve, located in the East Usambara Mountains. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided nature walk through the lush rainforest, spotting rare birds, butterflies, and medicinal plants. Visit the stunning Derema Waterfall, where you can refresh in the cool waters. In the afternoon, explore the tea plantations before settling in for an overnight stay at an eco-lodge deep in the forest.
Wake up to the sounds of nature and enjoy a morning birdwatching session before heading back to Tanga. Upon arrival, we visit the Amboni Caves, an ancient limestone cave system with mystical formations and historical legends. Learn about the local myths and traditional rituals practiced in these caves. Afterward, take a short Tanga city tour, visiting landmarks like the Old Boma and the port. Overnight stay in Tanga.
After breakfast, drive south along the coastal road to Pangani, an old Swahili town with a rich history of Arab, Portuguese, and German influence. Visit the Pangani ruins, old slave market, and colonial buildings to learn about the town’s past. In the afternoon, relax on the beautiful Pangani beaches, take a swim, or go for a boat trip along the Pangani River, where you can spot crocodiles, hippos, and various bird species. Spend the night at a beachside lodge.
Enjoy a relaxed morning by the beach, taking in the pristine coastline. For adventure lovers, optional activities include snorkeling, fishing, or visiting Maziwe Island Marine Reserve. After lunch, drive back to Tanga, marking the end of your unforgettable nature safari.
